Peer-to-peer End-to-end encrypted No sign-up

Messages stay between
your two devices

HushPeer connects browsers directly over an encrypted link. Text, images and files don’t pass through a server, and your chat history is saved encrypted on your own device.

How it works

The signal server only helps the two devices find each other at the start, like dialing a number. Once connected, messages travel directly between them.

  1. Step 1Open HushPeerYou get a Peer ID automatically. No account needed.
  2. Step 2Send it to a friendShare your invite link or QR code.
  3. Step 3Chat once they acceptThey open it and accept, and your two devices connect directly.

What it does

Device to device

Peer-to-peer over WebRTC. The signal server only makes the introduction and never stores messages.

End-to-end encrypted, and you can check

The connection is encrypted throughout. You can both compare a security code to confirm no one is in the middle.

History encrypted on your device

Chats and images are saved in your browser with AES-256 encryption, or can be deleted the next time you open it.

Send large files directly

Up to 8 GB per file, written to your device as it arrives. Files over 10 MB need the other person’s approval, and transfers resume after a dropped connection.

No sign-up

You get your own ID the moment you open it. Share a link or QR code, and your friend can connect by opening it.

See your connection

Check at any time whether you’re connected over the local network, directly over the internet or through a relay, along with both addresses and the latency.

Good to know

Peer-to-peer has trade-offs, and we’d rather tell you up front.

  • You both need to be onlineMessages aren’t held on a server until the other person comes online. If they’re offline, messages can’t be sent.
  • Some networks can’t connect directlyFor example, it may fail when you’re both on mobile data. Switching to Wi-Fi or home broadband usually fixes it. The app tells you whether your network connects directly easily.
  • Encryption protects the data, not the deviceYour device’s security depends on its screen lock and disk encryption. A malicious browser extension or malware can still read what’s on screen.
